FULL STACK SOFTWARE ENGINEER

Continuum was founded on the belief that we can help enable any company to be a space company.  If we can achieve this we can reduce the cost of deploying and managing space assets; so, humanity can benefit from the rich observation data that space will offer back on earth.  We are building a Space-as-a-Service (SpaaS) platform.  

FULL STACK SOFTWARE ENGINEER:

We are looking for a talented, creative and driven full stack software engineer with a proven track record developing across a full application stack to support mission design.  In this role, you will define, design and build the software stack for our SpaaS platform. You will participate in architecture reviews of complex IAAS, PAAS, and SAAS solutions and usage by the client. You will also provide input on proper deployment of cloud services and applications. 

Collaboration with different teams and projects leveraging Continuum IP, as well as, supporting Continuum’s Tool Kit (CTK) cloud system will be required. This includes our client network plus all hardware, software, and enterprise applications.

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • As a Continuum Software Engineer, you will be expected to use your architecture and development skills to design and implement new Cloud applications, tools, and infrastructure for Continuum’s Tool Kit (CTK) cloud system, including the computational back-end and scalable APIs.  You will also develop front-end modules and features for the platform, including collaborative, concurrency, and version control capabilities.

  • Develop custom, secure, scalable applications to solve Continuum’s business needs

  • Pair with other developers to understand code changes, assess risk, and ensure best practices.

  • Partner with Product Managers and stakeholders to create robust solutions

  • Assure timely release of new features and bug fixes through agile development practices

  • Maintain (and improve) the quality of the solutions delivered, while continuing to reduce the time from concept to consumed solution

  • Collaborate with UX designers and Cloud Systems  Architects to create consistency with both design and architecture across the platform.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • 3+ years of experience developing across a full-stack: Web server, relational database, and client-side/front-end.

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Database – Understanding of SQL and ability to write performant SQL. Ability to diagnose queries, and work with DBAs.

  • Server – Knowledge of how web servers operate on a low-level. Familiar with web protocols, developing APIs, scaling web applications. Ability to increase performance and diagnose problems.

  • Good judgment in UX/UI design. Understands the finer points of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript – know which tools to use when and why.

  • System architecture – Proficiency in structuring a database, website, and rich client side application from scratch.

  • Quality – Demonstrated usage of different testing patterns, continuous integration processes, build deployment systems. Continuous monitoring.

  • Current – Up to date with current trends, patterns, goings-on in the world of web development as it changes rapidly. Strong knowledge of computer science fundamentals and applying them in the real-world.

  • Development – Experience with Agile Development and Scrum methodologies.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Travel to launch and test sites may be required
